MY STORY

My name is Shadrack Akol Thon Mabok, a 17-year-old student-athlete from Mayath Village
in Cueibet, Lakes State, South Sudan. My journey is a story of perseverance,
determination, and hope despite many challenges.

I was born and raised in a humble family where life was often difficult.
Growing up without my father and facing financial hardships taught me responsibility
at an early age. These challenges helped me develop strong values of discipline,
patience, hard work, and consistency.

Education has always been important to me. I believe learning is one of the most
powerful tools for transforming a person’s future. I am currently studying at
St. Patrick High School Makunga in Kenya, where I continue to work hard academically
while pursuing basketball.

Basketball is more than a sport to me—it is a source of motivation, discipline,
and opportunity. Through basketball, I have learned teamwork, leadership,
resilience, and self-confidence.

One of my proudest achievements was being named Most Valuable Player (MVP)
during the Annual Interschools Basketball Tournament held in Eldoret in January 2026.
This achievement represents years of dedication and sacrifice.

My goal is to use basketball and education as pathways to greater opportunities,
support my family, and inspire other young people from similar backgrounds to
believe in themselves.
